Susie Amundson teaches Self Compassion for Women: Going Beyond Coffee, Chocolate and Wine from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Many Rivers. Learn about caring for yourself in the circle of care and kindness and how self compassion can reduce anxiety and rumination. U.S. Army Pvt. Nikole A. Eustice has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Homer Senior Citizens holds a Senior Fashion Show at 6 p.m. today at the Homer Senior Center Dining Room. The theme of the fashion show is “Glitz and Glam.”  There will be refreshments, split the pot, door prizes and a photo booth, with the show itself starting at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $5 each. Anyone interested in the shooting sports but who doesn’t know much about it is welcome to come out to the Kachemak Gun Club and watch practices 10 a.m.-noon every Saturday at Mile 160 Sterling Highway, Ibenson Road near Blackwater Bend. Kachemak Heritage Land Trust holds its 13th annual auction at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Wasabi’s. Music is by the Spit City Slickers. The first Land at Heart Award also will be given to Lynn Whitmore of Kachemak Moose Habitat Inc. Tickets are $60 and on sale at KHLT, 315 Klondike Ave., or the Homer Bookstore. Zumba holds Party in Pink, a Zumbathon charity event, from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Homer Middle School. Proceeds go to the Zumba global research grant for breast cancer prevention. At the event survivor gift baskets also will be given to two Homer survivors of breast cancer.

The Homer Hockey Association holds a pie auction and spaghetti and salmon dinner from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Homer Elks Lodge. The event is open to all and includes family-friendly fun, door prizes, food and pies. Dessert donations can be dropped off at 4 p.m. A suggested donation of $20 helps support the hockey association and the Kevin Bell Arena.
