Sophomore Audnia Carlson is the winner of the Flex Phoenix Award for March. This award is given monthly to the student who represents Homer Flex values of respect, ownership and productivity.

The Homer Divas Women’s Hockey League took three teams to the statewide tournament in Anchorage last weekend. All teams placed in the top three in their division.
Diva’s Women’s Hockey hosted the 9th Annual Jamboree Tournament last weekend. More than 90 players traveled from Kenai, Anchorage, Palmer and the Valley. This tournament, sponsored by Beluga Lake Lodge, is a major fundraiser for Homer Women’s Hockey.
The Divas, Homer’s women’s hockey league, took three teams to participate in the Fools on Ice state hockey tournament in Anchorage. Twenty teams from around the state participated including teams from Homer, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kodiak and Palmer. The Diva teams represented Homer in three divisions: novice, intermediate, and advanced.
The Homer Women’s Hockey Jamboree Tournament was a huge success last weekend, with 90 women participating from Soldotna, Fairbanks, Juneau, Anchorage and Homer. Eight teams were divided into two divisions competing for the championship title. The final breakdown after regulation play was:

The Homer Divas took to the road for the first time this year, playing in the intermediate division at the Palmer C Cup Women’s Hockey Tournament.
The Divas first game was against the Healy Coal Queens, who they solidly defeated 5-0. Goals were scored by Ori “Scori” Badajos, who scored two goals, Ingrid Harrald, Karen Weston and Shelly Laukitis. Goalie Michelle Hatton ended the game with a shutout and Harrald received MVP.
Homer Hockey Association’s Coed Adult Hockey League held its second league night Saturday.
The Red Rockets and Dark Destroyers matched up first with nonstop action as Destoryer’s Chris Owen scored in the first minute of the game. Rocket’s Travis Brown answered with a break-away deke on goalie Michelle Hatton to tie the game 1-1. The score volleyed back and forth with Chris Brown scoring for the Destroyers, followed by Butch Schollenberg and Steve Rich scoring for the Rockets giving the Rocket’s a 3-2 lead.
Homer Hockey Association’s Coed Adult Hockey League got off to a energetic start Saturday night as four teams and more than 50 skaters fought for their first win.
The Divas women’s hockey team headed to Anchorage last weekend to play in the USA Hockey Alaska State Tournament. This is their seventh year playing in the tournament, but their first year to come home with the championship banner in the novice division.
Six teams from around the state competed in the novice division and Homer had a tough schedule facing teams they had never played before from Nome, Anchorage and the Valley.
Homer’s Diva hockey took three teams to the 13th Annual Fools on Ice Tournament in Anchorage last weekend and took first in the intermediate division, second in the advanced beginner division, and third in the novice division. The teams were coached by Buck Laukitis, Dean Kildaw, Steve Nevak and Chris Owens.
Goalies Julie Hinkle and Lydia Brown had shut-out games and goalie Michelle Hatton had an all-tournament shut-out record.
