The second annual Homer Coed Adult Hockey Jamboree was held Oct. 24-26, at the Kevin Bell Arena, with 44 players from Juneau, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Kenai, Soldotna and Homer participating.
Using the jamboree format, players registered with no idea with whom they would be playing. Organizers created teams that provided for a fun and competitive atmosphere for all involved. Skill levels ranged from beginners to highly skilled, with ages ranged from 23 to 60.
As summer activities on the Homer Spit wind down, winter activities are heating up at the Kevin Bell Ice Arena. Ice is being laid down and the rink is scheduled to open the end of September. Coaches and instructors are preparing for another year, offering programs for every age and skill set.
The Kevin Bell Arena is ending the season this weekend with a bash, including the Annual Ash Cup Tournament Friday thru Sunday with participants from Anchorage and the Peninsula, a team from one of the nearby Russian communities and a couple of local teams. Also, Kevin Bell Day is Sunday with fun activities for different groups and the public to attend. This will include an hour dedicated to curling.

Not about to be left out of the fun, Sen. Peter Micciche, R-Soldotna, strapped on his gear and played in goal for two of the games.
