The Nikolaevsk boys basketball team picked up a 65-56 win over Wasilla Lake Tuesday night in Peninsula Conference play in Wasilla.
Only four players scored for the Warriors, led by Nikit Fefelov, who poured in 26 points. Felemon Molodih chipped in 15 points, Jonah Fefelov added 13 and Neil Gordeev had 11.
Nikolaevsk led 39-33 at halftime, then 48-44 after three quarters, but pulled away in the fourth by outscoring Wasilla Lake 17-12.
The Nikolaevsk girls and boys basketball teams scored victories over visiting Kalskag on Monday in nonconference action.
The girls won 45-16. Megan Hickman paced the girls with 14 points, while Elizabeth Fefelov and Vera Fefelov each had nine. Pamela Nelson paced Kalskag with six.
Nearly 36 percent of students in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District are classified as overweight or obese last year according to an Alaska Department of Health and Social Services study.
The study examined body mass index data for the student body over a two-year period and found that the bulk of students, 63 percent, were within a healthy weight range.
KPBSD joined two other school districts in Alaska who participated in studies with the DHSS.
