Small Business Saturday puts spotlight on local shops
While some small businesses may be tucked away in a corner of town or generally get by on a small loyal customer base, they each get a day to shine each year with Small Business Saturday.
In the annual promotion event, the Homer Chamber of Commerce encourages residents to “Shop Small,” by helping to deliver information on the various deals and discounts offered, this year on Saturday, Nov. 25.
As an added bonus, chamber staff handed out 200 reusable canvas bags, with coupons inside, to the first 50 people to shop at The Homer Bookstore, Homer Saw &Cycle, NOMAR and the Kachemak Gear Shed. At the bookstore, Membership Director Nyla Lightcap said the canvas bags were gone by early afternoon, and that every location had run out.
