Jan. 8-15

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to three medical calls and three fire calls, including mutual aid to HVFD and Anchor Point for structure fires.

Homer Police

Jan. 9

A caller at 6:34 a.m. reported a man acting suspicious in the area of Sea Plane Court. An officer responded to the scene and was unable to locate the man.

A caller at 11:14 a.m. reported a man in a business on East Pioneer Avenue that the caller wanted removed and kept from the building. An officer responded to the scene.

A caller at 11:52 a.m. reported an unattended death on Race Road. Officers and medics responded to the scene.

The Kenai Probations office at 12:52 p.m. requested that an officer attempt to locate a woman on Clover Lane. An officer was advised and was unable to locate the woman.

A caller at 5:44 p.m. reported a traffic accident involving a moose at Mt. Augustine Drive and the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene. A caller reported another moose collision in the same spot at 7:01 p.m. saying the mother moose was still in the area.

Jan. 10

An officer at 12:41 a.m. assisted the fire department at Seaview Circle.

A caller at 6:55 a.m. reported a commercial burglary alarm activated on East End Road. An officer responded to the scene, spoke with a man there and found all was OK.

An officer at 1:53 p.m. recovered multiple stolen firearms on East End Road in reference to a case of burglaries being handled by the Alaska State Troopers.

Jan. 11

A caller at 12:20 requested a welfare check on a person in a vehicle that was running for several hours on West Bunnell Avenue. An officer responded to the area and saw the vehicle was leaving as the officer arrived.

A caller at 2:28 p.m. reported a person trespassing on Lake Street. An officer responded to the area and saw the subject leaving as the officer arrived.

A caller at 6:07 p.m. reported a shoplifter on Lake Street. An officer responded to the scene and a 24-year-old man was arrested for concealing merchandize.

Jan. 12

A caller at 12:07 p.m. reported a man needing assistance on the Homer Bypass. An officer responded to the area and provided transportation for the man to his home. All was OK.

Multiple callers reported at 7:30 p.m. reported fireworks within city limits on Jenny Way.

Jan. 13

A caller at noon reported damage to a business on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer responded to the scene.

Jan. 14

A caller at 1:20 a.m. reported a noise complaint relating to a local bar on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer responded to the scene.

A caller at 3:26 a.m. reported a man walking in the roadway at West Hill Road and the Sterling Highway and obstructing traffic. An officer contacted the man and found all was OK.

Officers at 3:53 a.m. arrested a 26-year-old man on an outstanding warrant at mile 171 Sterling Highway.

A caller at 6:30 a.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch at Whispering Meadows Avenue and West Terrace Boulevard. An officer responded to the location.

A caller at 8:10 a.m. reported an unattended death on Kachemak Way. An officer responded to the scene.

A caller at 9:46 p.m. reported two loose dogs in the roadway at East End Road and East Hill Road. An officer responded to the scene.

A caller at 11:17 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle on the side of the road at Green Timbers Road and the Sterling Highway. An officer responded to the location.

Troopers

Jan. 9

Alaska State Troopers at 8:19 p.m. received a report that a 56-year-old Ninilchik man violated a Domestic Violence Protective Order (DVPO). Investigation revealed that he had contacted the petitioner (protected person) in violation of the DVPO. He was arrested and transported to Homer Jail.

Jan. 10

Alaska State Troopers at approximately 12:05 a.m. received a report of a unconscious and unresponsive male. Medic units from Kachemak Emergency Services as well as State Troopers were dispatched to the residence. Medics arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures however they were unsuccessful. Investigation revealed a 63-year-old Razdolna man passed away of natural causes. The body was released to the family.

Judgments

Henri V. Mischler, 27, charges dismissed, third-degree theft and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Thomas Barclay, 48, charges dismissed, felony DUI, driving with license canceled, suspended, revoked or limited, failing to stop at the direction of an officer, reckless driving, and third-degree misconduct involving weapons. In a separate case, charges also dismissed, two counts of violating condition of release.

Cherilynn Sexton, 45, fifth-degree criminal mischief.

Criminal Court

Derek Z. T. Jokay-Szilagyi, 45, two counts of terroristic threatening, fourth-degree assault and third-degree assault.

Richard J. Nadeau, 56, violating a domestic violence protective order.

Johnathan S. Cason, 28, two counts of third-degree assault.

Mark E. Palm, 28, fifth-degree criminal mischief.
