Cops and Courts
Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 51-year-old Homer man for taking a bull moose with a 45-inch rack and two brow tines on each side in the Coal Creek area near Cantwell where the bag limit requires a 50-inch rack with four brow tines on at least one side. Troopers seized the meat and antlers.
Alaska State Troopers at 9:35 a.m. did a welfare check at a Ninilchik home and charged a 43-year-old man with sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
A school official at 8:45 a.m. reported damage to the West Homer Elementary School lawn.
A caller at 1:36 p.m. reported a death of an 88-year-old woman at her Paradise Place home.
A man at 1:42 p.m. reported money taken from inside his car parked on Ben Walters Lane.
A woman at 4:50 p.m. reported a fallen tree partially blocking Sabrina Road. Police notified Public Works.
A caller at 9:20 a.m. reported a possibly stranded seal on the Homer Spit beach. Police notified the Alaska SeaLife Center.
Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to 13 medical calls, one fire call and one rescue call.
