Auditions slated for today 

for ‘The Wizard of Odds’

Auditions continue at 6 p.m. today for “The Wizard of Odds,” another Stepping Out show produced by Sally Obserstein and crew. All age auditions are at the Homer Council On the Arts gallery. Come ready to sing and have a little fun with the group.

Short film shows next week at HCOA

The cast of “The Incredible Adventures Of Jojo (And His Annoying Sister Avila)” visit Homer next Wednesday after their film is screened at the Anchorage International Film Festival. Join them for popcorn and to watch the film starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Homer Council on the Arts. A question-and-answer session follows. Admission is $5 for youth ages 14 and younger and $10 for adults ages 15 and up.

 

Library seeks submissions for art 

The Friends of the Homer Library seeks submissions for Art in the Library 2016. Applications are available at the library or by calling 435-2195. The deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 12. The library seeks two-dimensional art (paintings, prints, collage, photography, etc.) to be shown in the library’s Fireplace Reading Room. Work will be shown for about three months starting in January, April, July and October. Selection will be made by a committee of the library director and one member each from the Friends of the Homer Library, the Library Advisory Board and the Public Arts Committee. Selection will be blind, with the identity of the artist not known.

 

Church presents holiday play

Homer United Methodist Church presents Henry Gheon’s holiday play, “Christmas in the Marketplace,” at 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at the church. Gheon’s 1935 play is about a band of wandering Gypsies who present their own version of the Nativity. The public is invited.

 

HCOA seeks art for February show

The Homer Council on the Arts seeks submissions in any medium for its Work=Art, a vocational art show, to be displayed in February. HCOA seeks work “seen by others as unique and ingenious.” Submission forms for the “Work=Art” exhibit are due Friday, Jan. 1. Artwork needs to be dropped off by Thursday, Jan. 14. The First Friday exhibit opening is Feb. 5. For more information, call 235-4288.
