Share your favorite recipe for new cookbook
If you are also a big fan of the Homer Farmers Market, you probably get their e-newsletter and see that there are recipes in it every week. Some folks just know food and flavor so well that they make amazing dishes without recipes. Some, like me, only make good taste testers.
But I get brave when there is a recipe. Let me tell you from experience, however, that not all recipes are created equal. So I will definitely go for one a friend gives me from a long family lineage long before I get one off the Internet.
What is your favorite thing to do with the veggies and stuff you get at the Market? The Farmers Market is putting together its own cookbook and needs your input. Rather than bringing a little 3x5 card to the Market, you can do it online.

Some of your family recipes might be the ones that fill in the plates and bowls around the family Thanksgiving table. You have gotten your chance to win the Farmers Market Turkey Raffle, right?
As it does every year, Market vendors gather up the ingredients of a full blown Thanksgiving meal including the turkey, rolls, dessert and more for the winner of the Turkey Raffle. It’s the perfect culmination of a summer of great food to be thankful for.
The funds from one person’s Thanksgiving windfall will go to the Market Grant/Scholarship Program. In the past this program has supported everything from a chicken coop at Haven House to plant and seed propagation projects to school and daycare gardens. What better reason for getting tickets?
The fact is that the season is winding down. There are only two more official Saturday Markets and the Turkey Raffle winner will be pulled during the Harvest Meal at the last Market.
But the veggies don’t know the season is ending. Head on down to the Market this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and find everything you need for your heirloom recipe.
