Let the school year begin

Kindergarteners filled four classrooms at Paul Banks Elementary School for Tuesday’s beginning of the 2014-2015 school year.

“Very exciting stuff,” said Principal Eric Pederson.

“Awesome,” was Chapman Principal Eric Woodhead’s description of the first day at the Anchor Point school. “Great” was McNeil Canyon Elementary School Principal Pete Swanson’s one-word description.

Principal Kari Dendurant said Homer Middle School was projected for an enrollment of 180, but had 194 students on Tuesday. Ray Marshall also reported full classrooms at West Homer Elementary School.

Meanwhile, at Fireweed Academy, secretary Janet Bowen said Tuesday went smoothly and “the kids all seem happy.”
