Inauguration Day address inspiring

I got this straight from the mouth of Black Berry Bog Brahman, who fashions himself a channel for old Abe Lincoln: “Save the Grand Old Party: end the Tea Party’s stranglehold in 2014.”
Anyway, wasn’t President Obama’s inauguration speech great? Listening to him, on the same day of Martin Luther King Day, I couldn’t help recalling King’s words: “We may have all come on different ships but we are all in the same boat now.”
And “on the same boat now” — what an incredible sail into history we’ve gone on, what an exploration of the human spirit it’s been from the Declaration of Independence through Seneca Falls, Selma and Stonewall, which our president so eloquently reminded us.
And how it was all put into such exquisite and stirring song by Poet Richard Blanco’s culminating poem which left me with the goose bumps.
Anyway, I never thought I’d be rooting for the GOP, but today for the sake of Abe Lincoln and our collective consciousness, I sure hope they find their better angel. I remember the days of Sen. Everett Dirksen and William F. Buckley. And it seems that it was only yesterday Col. Lawrence Wilkerson and Colin Powell stood among them.
Anyway, happy Martin Luther King Day; happy Inauguration Day everyone: “Mine eyes have seen the glory.”
