Hospice welcomes new volunteers

Hospice of Homer just completed our annual End of Life and Volunteer Visitor training. Hospice would like to welcome the five newly trained volunteers. Soon each of these volunteers will be providing compassion in action to some of the individuals and families Hospice of Homer has the privilege to serve. Thank you, volunteers, for bringing your heart and skills to be of service through hospice.

I would like to thank the generous people and organizations who made Hospice of Homer volunteer training possible: Homer Senior Center for providing physical space; guest speakers: Claudia Caffee-DeLapp, Charlie Gibson, Jeanne Manson, Pam Breckenridge, Donna Scovell, Terry Scovell, Ruth Babcock, Shelly Erickson, Mary Fries, Kathy Carssow, Marilyn McKay, Greta Mahowald, BJ Elder, Bob Redmond, Donna Beran, Dr. Rob Downey, Bernadette Arsenault; Lisa Zatz, John Neville and Ivy Betts; actors: Carol Dee, Greg Fries, Michael McKinney, Margaret Quarton, Nancy Chastain, and Jen Castellani; and Fat Olives and Safeway for the treats and tasty pizza.

Hospice provides free of charge services to residents of the southern Kenai Peninsula. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, making a financial donation or learning more about the services hospice offers, contact staff at 235-6899.
