Yacht club picnics at Jakolof Bay on Saturday

Taking a break from the club’s busy summer racing schedule, members of Homer Yacht Club are sailing to Jakolof Bay Saturday for a picnic.

Four more races remain this season: the Converse Cup on Aug. 3, Founders Cup on Aug. 17, Kachemak Cup on Aug. 31 and Fireweed Cup on Sept. 14. For more information, visit www.homeryachtclub.org.

I have always found the arrival of spring to be championed by the first sightings of geese at the Kenai and Kasilof Flats
