Homer Police

March 18

A caller at 7:59 p.m. reported a person possibly trespassing at a Pioneer Avenue residence. Police responded but the suspect was gone upon arrival.

A man at 12:30 p.m. reported suspicious activity and cars at an East End Road address. Police responded.

A woman at 1:27 p.m. reported a broken water pipe at a city building on the Homer Spit.

A caller at 4:44 p.m. reported a disturbance at the Homer Courthouse on Lake Street. Police responded, but the incident did not rise to a criminal level.

A woman at 6:36 p.m. reported a disturbance at an East End Road business. Police responded and all was OK.

Police at 8:24 p.m. arrested a 37-year-old woman on an outstanding warrant at a Star Court address.

Police at 11:11 p.m. contacted a 24-year-old man in his car at an East End Road address and issued him a summons for failure to provide proof of vehicle insurance.

March 19

A caller at 1:28 a.m. reported a disturbance at a Main Street address. Police responded and determined the incident was verbal only.

A man at 9:58 a.m. turned in an item left in a taxi cab.

A man at 10:49 a.m. asked for information about city ordinances regarding discharging weapons in the city limits.

An agency at 2:43 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a patient due to a possible domestic dispute. Police contacted the patient and determined the incident did not rise to the level of a crime.

March 20

A caller at 1:18 a.m. reported a break in and assault at a Soundview Avenue address. Police responded.

A caller at 4:12 a.m. asked for police help with a man. Police took a 42-year-old man into protective custody.

An official at 8:23 a.m. reported someone in a car damaged a back gate at West Homer Elementary School.

A caller at 8:49 a.m. reported a moose was “high centered” on a Waddell Street fence. The moose later freed itself. Police notified the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

A man at 11:55 a.m. reported a man in a black pickup truck pointed a gun at him while passing at a high rate of speed on the Sterling Highway. The man only got a partial number on a license plate.

An official at 1:05 p.m. asked police to issue a trespass notice to a person from Homer Flex School.

Police at 2:37 p.m. assisted the Office of Children’s Services with a search for a parent.

March 21

A caller at 3:35 a.m. reported a possible break in at a Pioneer Avenue business. Police responded and found all was OK.

A woman at 8:43 a.m. reported her husband threatened to harm her several times. Police determined the call was out of the area and advised Alaska State Troopers.

A caller at 6:35 p.m. reported a possible sighting on East End Road of a person in a black pickup truck reported the day before for pointing a gun.

A man at 7:55 p.m. reported a dead eagle on Bishop’s Beach.

A caller at 9:41 p.m. reported two drunk women walking in the roadway on Main Street and jumping in front of cars.

March 22

A woman at 12:02 p.m. reported a phone scam.

A woman at 12:43 p.m. reported a lost bicycle.

Troopers

March 19

Alaska State Troopers at 4:17 p.m. responded to a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint that a black Ford F250 pickup truck had gone into the ditch on the Old Sterling Highway. Troopers contacted the driver, a 48-year-old Anchor Point woman, at her residence and arrested her for driving under the influence.

March 20

Troopers at 8:50 p.m. contacted a 26-year-old Homer man driving a Chevrolet pickup truck on Virginia Avenue in Homer. During the contact, troopers discovered the man had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court and arrested him.

March 21

Troopers at 9:02 a.m. went to a report of an assault at a Homer residence. Troopers allege a 38-year-old Homer man had assaulted a female household member. He was charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

Troopers at 3:22 p.m. went to a car crash at Mile 148 Sterling Highway in Anchor Point. Troopers said a 55-year-old Anchor Point man driving a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban was turning left when a 38-year-old Sterling man driving in a 2008 GMC Sierra behind him tried to pass and hit the driver’s side of the Suburban, causing extensive damage. All parties wore seat belts and no one was injured. Troopers cited the Sterling man for passing in a no-passing zone.
