Dorothy Anderson Kabisch, 94, passed away peacefully at home in Pasadena, Texas, on July 27, 2013. No services are scheduled at the present time.

Born on a farm in Alta, Iowa, on May 24, 1919, Dorothy spoke Swedish until attending school. She graduated from Augustana College in 1941 and passed on a potential career as an operatic soprano in favor of teaching. She retired in 1984 after teaching in Alta, Chicago and Silver Spring, Md. Dorothy had three daughters. The youngest, Sally Kabisch Kizzia of Homer, preceded her in death in 2004. Nancy Kabisch Carranza of Pasadena, Texas, and Mary Ethel Kabisch of Alexandria, Va., survive their mother. Tom Kizzia of Homer, and Rito Carranza Muñiz of Zacatecas and Pasadena, Texas, are her surviving sons-in-law. Grandchildren are Sarah Fredrickson Dudley of Pasadena, Texas, and Emily Kizzia and Ethan Kizzia of Homer. She is also survived by her youngest brother, Raymond J. Anderson of Alta, Iowa; cousins Ruth Radke and Dorothy Radke of Alta, Iowa; nieces and nephews Naomi Anderson of Tulsa, Okla., Harold Anderson of Colombia, Mo., Oren Anderson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Owen Anderson of Lansing, Mich., in addition to many other extended family members and friends. 

“Dorothy was patient, sweet, kind and adventurous and will always be remembered for her love of family and the great outdoors,” her family said.
