Former Homer resident Anne Morgan died Dec. 21, 2013, in Atlanta, Ga., by accident, just a few days before she was to meet her family at Callaway Gardens to exchange Christmas gifts and have a lovely time. Her funeral service was held on Christmas Eve, 2013, at Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home on Timberlane Road, Tallahassee. She was 21 years and 5 months old.

She was born in Homer at South Peninsula Hospital on July 21, 1992. She was the daughter of Paige Morgan and Jake Pogrebinsky, who worked at the Boatyard. Annie attended Homer Head Start and Paul Banks Elementary School. She studied ballet and tap with Ms. Haas. In 1998, when she was 6, she moved with her mother and brother to Tallahassee, Fla., where she attended the School of Arts and Sciences, Leon High and Tallahassee Community College. Annie took a break from college and moved to Atlanta, where she worked at Vickery’s and the Republic Social House restaurants.

Annie was a hard worker and always had a job since she was 16 years old. Annie planned to return to Tallahassee to resume her studies at Florida State University and finish her degree to become a teacher. She was very creative and loved art. She enjoyed drawing and crafts, playing with her dog, riding her bike, and picnics in the park with her friends. She also enjoyed attending Atlanta Braves baseball games with her friends.

Anne was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dr. William P. Morgan (Dec.) of Monroeville, Ala. She is survived by her mother, Paige Morgan, of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Billy Morgan of Nome; sisters, Katie Morgan of Tallahassee, and Ursula Cady of Fairbanks; father, Jake Pogrebinsky, of Galena; grandparents, Milly Hulsey of Tallahassee, Gregory Pogrebinsky of Boston, and Helen Chernyak of Bryn Mawr, Pa.; many aunts and uncles; and many, many devoted friends. 

“To those in Homer who remember her family, never forget my little Annie and know that she grew up to be the most beautiful girl in the world,” her mother said.
