Roy V. Baskin

Roy V. Baskin

March 1, 1949-Nov. 6, 2015

Roy V. Baskin died Nov. 6, 2015, in Odessa, Texas, after a brief illness. He died of pulmonary complications.

He was born March 1, 1949, in Odessa, Texas. He attended Permian High School and graduated in 1967.

Roy’s mom, Mattie V. Baskin, always insisted that he be addressed as Roy V. because his father’s name also was Roy.

He moved to Alaska in 1981, or sometime there about, and applied his welding skills in the oil fields on the North Slope.

Roy was an outdoorsman and adventurer and a staunch camper, living at times in his homemade tepee and later a geodesic dome house in Homer. Roy also was an excellent swimmer, always able to find a place to swim laps or long distance swimming in the ocean.

In 1989 or there about, he moved to Hawaii’s Big Island where he managed a coffee plantation and sold real estate before moving to live in Hua Hin, Thailand, where he was married in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Wahn Pen, and two daughters, Mattie Vee and May.

“May he rest in peace,” his family said.
