Mrs. Betty Bee Martin, 86, of Anchor Point died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at South Peninsula Hospital. A memorial is at 2 p.m. Feb. 27, 2016, at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Homer.

Betty was born Monday, March 4, 1929, in White River, S.D., to Donald and Luella (Milks) James. She met her husband Leroy (Roy) in Des Moines, Wash. and they married in Burien, Wash., on May 7, 1965. In August 1980 she moved to Alaska and lived in Homer and Anchor Point for 35 years. She retired from her jobs as a waitress and caregiver in 1994 and enjoyed spending free time sewing. She even made her own clothing and suits.

“She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grand mother. She was loved by many in the area as she was very active in the door to door ministry as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She did this for over 55 years,” her family said.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leroy Martin of Homer; daughter, Madeline Serna of Lakewood, Calif.; sister, Mary Lou Marcum of Las Vegas, Nev., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
