April 10

Alaska State Troopers at 4:45 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 53-year-old Seward man near Mile 140 Sterling Highway in Ninilchik. Troopers said the man operated his vehicle without an ignition interlock device as required. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released.

April 11

Troopers at 7:20 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 45-year-old Anchorage man near Mile 173 Sterling Highway. Troopers said the man drove his vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested and transported to the Homer Jail.

April 13

Troopers at 3:13 p.m. went to a two-vehicle crash near Mile 89 Sterling Highway. Troopers said an 83-year-old Nikiski man turning onto the Sterling Highway in a black 2008 GMC truck failed to yield to a 66-year-old Homer man driving north in a white 2004 GMC pickup truck and hit the other truck. The passengers in both trucks had non life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital. All parties involved wore seatbelts. Alcohol use was not a factor. The Nikiski man was issued a citation for failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign.

April 14

Troopers at 7:37 p.m. stopped for speeding a 48-year-old Anchor Point man driving a 2009 Mercedes C300 sedan near Mile 73 Seward Highway near Girdwood. Troopers arrested the man for driving under the influence and driving while license cancelled. He was later charged with refusal to submit to a chemical breath test.

Troopers at 10:54 p.m. stopped a 19-year-old Soldotna man near Mile 163 Sterling Highway after he failed to dim the LED light bar on his Chevrolet car to oncoming traffic. Troopers arrested the man for DUI, under 21 consuming alcohol and operating a vehicle after being under 21 and consuming alcohol. Troopers also said his car had an ignition interlock device as required under a previous DUI conviction, but it was operated by a sober passenger, allowing the car to be started and operated. He also was charged with driving in violation of a limitation on his license. Troopers said the man had two other DUI convictions in the past 10 years, making the third DUI a felony charge.

April 15

Troopers at noon arrested a 51-year-old Anchor Point man on several arrest warrants after he came to the Anchor Point Trooper Post on an unrelated matter.
