May 17: Sixth grade graduation, 12:45 p.m. A reception for graduates and their families will take place in the library following the ceremony.

Student council election results:

The following students will serve on the student council for the 2017-2018 school year.

Site council election results:

McNeil parents voted in Matt Hakala and Eric Engebretsen to serve on the site council.

Memory garden volunteers needed:

Judy Flora, the current caretaker of the garden planted in memory of Judy Tietjen in 1993, would like to pass on the care of the garden to others. Please contact the McNeil Canyon Office if interested.

Last day of school activities and picnic:

Rain or shine, the last day of school will be celebrated with an end of the year lunchtime picnic and afternoon play day. Hot dogs and trimmings will be served from 11:20 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Cake will also be servd in celebration of Debbie Piper’s retirement. Parents are welcome. After lunch, the Dragons’ Play Day will include sidewalk art, marble games and fingernail painting. Parents are invited to participate in or lead games and can sign-up in the office. The more indoor and outdoor events, the bigger the blast the play day will be. McNeil is still gathering event ideas, so contribute yours.

West Homer Elementary School

May 18: Students’ last day of school, report cards go home with students.

Mariner Award Assembly

Homer High School will give Mariner Awards to top athletes, parent of the year and program of the year on Thursday, May 12, at 2:30 p.m. There will also be academic awards and a ceremonial signing for seniors playing college athletics in the fall.
