Aug. 8

Police at 4:14 a.m. did a security check of a Sterling Highway building and found signs of forced entry. On Aug. 14 a person reported a break-in and theft of items at the building.

A caller at 11:11 a.m. reported a disturbance that happened earlier on the Spit.

A person at 11:45 a.m. reported finding items on private property.

A woman at 1:15 p.m. reported her backpack was stolen from her car.

A person at 2:23 p.m. flagged down an officer on the Spit and reported a disturbance.

A caller at 8:17 p.m. reported a laptop computer stolen from a car parked on Pioneer Avenue

Police at 11:42 p.m. investigated a suspicious vehicle parked behind a Sterling Highway business. Police arrested a 48-year-old man on a charge of violating probation and fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, amphetamines.

Aug. 9

A caller at 12:37 a.m. reported an unknown man yelling and screaming outside a Sterling Highway home who then tried to get into the house. Police responded and arrested a 29-year-old man for disorderly conduct.

A caller at 12:02 p.m. reported a trespass issue at a Lake Street address. Police responded and resolved the issue.

A caller at 12:05 p.m. reported possible fraud.

A caller at 2:22 p.m. reported sewage coming from a trailer on the Sterling Highway. Police contacted the trailer’s owner.

A person at 3:17 p.m. made a 911 call of a disturbance at a Lake Street and Grubstake Avenue job site. Police responded.

A caller at 3:41 p.m. reported the theft of a cooler and bait from a car parked on the Spit.

A person at 4:58 p.m. made a 911 call reporting a dog was hit by a car near Mile 1 East End Road. Police notified the animal control officer who then reported the dog walked away from the scene.

A caller at 7:32 p.m. reported young people skateboarding in the road on Heath Street. Police contacted two skateboarders and advised them of city law prohibiting skateboarding in the street.

A caller at 9:32 p.m. asked for an extra patrol in the Kachemak Drive area because of a man that kept harassing the caller. Police advised the caller to get a stalking protective order.

A caller at 9:32 p.m. reported a man lying face down next to a log on the Spit. Police contacted the man. The man said he was OK except that he did not have a place to stay.

A caller at 10:10 p.m. reported vandalism to East End Road property.

A caller at 10:10 p.m. asked for help regarding a civil issue over property on Main Street. Police responded and arrested a 48-year-old woman on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Aug. 10

Police at 1:01 a.m. did a welfare check on a woman who had called 911 from a Lakeshore Drive address. Police took the woman to South Peninsula Hospital.

A caller at 3:06 a.m. reported a man broke the windows out of her car on the Sterling Highway near Diamond Creek. While dispatchers transferred the call to the Alaska State Troopers, the caller hung up. Police and troopers patrolled the area.

A caller at 5:50 p.m. reported a person possibly damaging personal belongings at an East End Road address.

A woman at 6:46 p.m. made a 911 call that a man bothered her at a Sterling Highway address. Police provided the man transportation to another location and issued him a trespass notice from the property.

A caller at 7:48 p.m. reported receiving a harassing phone call.

A caller at 10:10 p.m. reported a car in the ditch on Kachemak Drive but did not know if anyone was injured. Police responded.

A person at 10:37 p.m. made a 911 call of a drunk man passed out near a trail on Klondike Avenue. Police responded and found the man was OK. Police advised the man of city camping regulations prohibiting camping except at designated campgrounds.

A caller at 11:10 p.m. reported a car in the Lake Street and Sterling Highway intersection and up on the sidewalk. Police responded and found all was OK — the car was out of gas with help on the way.

Aug. 11

A person at 2:14 a.m. made a 911 call of a car on Garden Park Drive with a dead end where no cars should be there.

A 35-year-old woman at 11:19 a.m. turned herself in on a probation violation at the police station.

A caller at 12:21 p.m. reported seeing a vehicle similar to one on the news on the Spit.

Multiple callers at 1:55 p.m. reported a two-car crash with possible injuries near Mile 3 East End Road. Police and medics responded. A car heading west turned left and was hit by a car heading east. No one was taken to the hospital.

A caller at 3:05 p.m. reported a man waving whale baleen at passing drivers from a Sterling Highway parking lot. A caller at 4:39 p.m. reported a man selling baleen at a Sterling Highway parking lot. Police contacted the man and advised him of the itinerant merchant permit process.

A person a 4:55 p.m. turned in a backpack and purse found at Karen Hornaday Park. Police contacted the registered owner.

A person at 5:08 p.m. made a 911 call for a man passed out in the grass at Klondike Avenue and the Poopdeck Trail. Police contacted the man and advised him to move along.

A caller at 7:08 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle that pulled in her driveway on High Look Court. The woman asked for extra patrols.

Police at 7:24 p.m. assisted a person with a civil issue regarding Main Street property.

A person at 9:49 p.m. reported suspicious activity at a Lakeshore Drive home. Police provided the person transportation to a medical facility.

Aug. 12

Police at 12:21 a.m. contacted the driver of a motorized scooter on Main Street and warned the person for driving in the wrong direction on the road.

A caller at 12:29 a.m. reported three suspicious people in the Fairview Avenue area. The caller said he heard sounds of rocks possibly hitting something. Police responded.

A caller at 2:08 a.m. reported people on an unknown boat in the harbor set off fireworks.

A caller at 10:16 a.m. reported an abandoned car on their East End Road property. Police advised the caller of options.

A woman at 12:46 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on her son.

A caller at 1:55 p.m. asked for help with a camper refusing to pay fees at a Spit campground.

A person at 7:21 p.m. reported a man passed out on the stairs at an Pioneer Avenue address. Police responded and told the man to move along.

Several people at 9:33 p.m. made 911 calls for a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint. Police stopped the car and arrested a 41-year-old woman for DUI.

A person at 11:03 p.m. made a 911 call of a drunk woman passed out near a Spit campground. Police responded but could not find the woman. They later contacted her and found she was OK.

A caller at 11:18 p.m. reported a drunk man outside a Bunnell Avenue business.

A person at 11:22 p.m. made a 911 call of a REDDI complaint and of a noise disturbance at a Spit campground. Police responded and issued a person a disorderly conduct warning. At 11:49 p.m. multiple callers reported a man threatened campers, drove drunk and might have been involved in a hit-and-run. Police responded and arrested a 30-year-old man for DUI, failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

Aug. 13

A caller at 3:36 a.m. reported people camping at Karen Hornaday Park played their music loudly. Police responded and issued a disorderly conduct warning.

A caller at 10:47 a.m. reported a car blocking the bike path on Ocean Drive. Police responded and told the vehicle owner to move.

A caller at 3:33 p.m. reported a man hitchhiking on the Sterling Highway and jumping out at cars trying to get a ride.

A caller at 3:40 p.m. reported ATV drivers dragging pieces of driftwood on the Spit beach west of Mariner Park toward the seawall. The drivers were setting up jumps for an equestrian event. Police advised the drivers the beach was closed to motorized vehicles and not to drive on the beach.

A person at 5:13 p.m. reported a child wandering around unattended in a Sterling Highway business parking lot. Police responded and reunited the child with a parent. All was OK.

A caller at 5:27 p.m. reported a drunk man caused a disturbance at a Hazel Avenue business. A business official asked police to issue the man a trespass notice if contacted.

A caller at 5:35 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a person at a Main Street address.

A caller at 7:11 p.m. reported a verbal disturbance with an adult child at a Fairview Avenue address. Police responded.

Aug. 14

A caller at 12:53 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a person at a Main Street address. Police found the person was OK.

A person at 6:40 a.m. made a 911 call reporting being locked out of a car on Ben Walters Lane. Police advised the person to call a taxi cab.

A caller at 9:06 a.m. reported a man had been issued a trespass notice from a Sterling Highway store.

A caller at 2:46 p.m. reported someone suspicious behind her door at a Mattox Road address. Police responded and found all was OK — staff were cleaning the building.

Police at 2:55 p.m. contacted a driver on the Sterling Highway and issued a warning for texting while driving.

A person at 3:49 p.m. made a 911 call of a man down on the Poopdeck Trail. Police and medics responded and the man was taken to the hospital.

A caller at 6:38 p.m. made an animal complaint on the Spit. Police responded and advised a subject of fishing rules.

A person at 8:43 p.m. made a 911 call asking for a man to be trespassed from her Fairview Avenue home. Police responded and determined the issue was a civil matter.

A caller at 9:47 p.m. reported sounds of rapid gunfire heard in the Frisbee Court area. Police contacted the caller and determined there had been fireworks seen in the Kachemak Drive area.

Police at 10:50 p.m. arrested a 57-year-old man on an outstanding warrant.
