McNeil Canyon Elementary School

Jan. 13: Spelling Bee. Practice for the bee is on Mondays, starting Nov. 14, for students in grades 4,5 and 6 who are interested in participating.

Zero Waste Challenge

The sixth grade class is collecting data on how many single-use sporks and straws the school uses each day. With the collected sporks, the class will create a large art project as well as graph the usage of single use sporks each week.

Ink Cartridge Recycling

McNeil Canyon is collected used ink jet cartridges to recycle. Cartridges can be dropped of in the school office or at Tech Connect in town.

Paul Banks Elementary

Nov. 23: Harvest day. Wear your harvest clothes.

Nov. 23: Early release day. Students depart at 1:30 p.m.

Nov.24-25: Thanksgiving holiday. No school.

West Homer Elementary

Nov. 23: Early release. School out at 1:45 p.m.

School safety closure or delay start information

Visit bit.ly/emergencyinformationKPBSD to become familiar with A.L.I.C.E., Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District’s emergency terms and actions and how to learn if there will be a two-hour delay start or school closure.

If school remains open during adverse weather and parents and guardians assess the conditions in their local area and decide to keep their child or children home, please call the school to let the office know.

An absence due to road and weather conditions will be excused.
