We are all in this together
I strongly disagree with the recall effort targeting Donna Aderhold, Catriona Reynolds and Dave Lewis. They are upstanding citizens in our “Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea.” We are very lucky to have one of the most balanced city councils at the moment — maybe ever. They represent both sides in these divisive times. I applaud all the Homer City Council members and thank them so much for their public service.
No one should have to get a thicker skin to serve the Homer area public. We can voice our opinions respectfully without engaging meanness in spirit. Anyone who is willing to serve in public office at least deserves that — it is not an easy job. The Golden Rule still rings true — Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
And to Donna Aderhold, Catriona Reynolds, Dave Lewis and all other city council members and the mayor — thank you so much for your public service. Keep smiling and laughing (even fake ones change the chemistry in your brain, making you feel instantly better) — it really works. I am not making this up.
Stay calm and ride through this stormy time; we are so lucky to live in this beautiful place with so many wonderful people. We are all in this together — always be kinder than necessary and remember, a quote from Tom Dorrance, a grand old cowboy: “I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.”
