Lifelong Homer resident, Mr. Jonathan Robert Stanish, 16, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer from complications with epilepsy.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at the Homer United Methodist Church, 770 East End Road in Homer. A balloon release will follow the potluck at Bishops Beach in Homer. In honor of Jonathan, please include something blue in your wardrobe at the service.

Jonathan was born May 21, 2001 to Daniel and Rachel Stanish in Homer, Alaska. He went to Paul Banks, West Homer, Homer Middle School and Homer High. He was getting ready to start his sophomore year at Homer High. He was born and raised in Homer. Jonathan was a member of the Methodist Church in Homer. He got straight A’s at Homer High and had perfect attendance.

The family wrote, “Jonathan was our angel on earth. Jonathan touched the hearts of not only his family and friends, but anyone he met. Jonathan struggled in life from the moment he was born. Though all his medical struggles, he was always happy, loving and sweet. He taught so many people about unconditional love. Jonathan loved to explore the world around him. We will miss his sweet spirit and sparkle in his beautiful blue eyes.”

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Stephan Stanish; grandpa, Wesley McGee; great -grandparents, Robert and Noella Harford and grandpa, Clayton Richardson.

He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Rachel Stanish of Homer; brothers, Stephan and Jaydan Stanish of Homer; grandma’s, Bonnie Nielson of Utah, Cheryl L. Richardson of Anchor Point, Mary Martin of Anchorage, and Nancy Dodd of Homer; great-aunt and uncle Elizabeth and Don Doan of Homer; aunts, Michell Foss of Homer, Holly Stanish of Homer, Tonya McGee of Homer, Mary (Jamie) Webb of Wasilla, Kayla and Tracey Hanley of Homer, Lena Koen of Anchorage and Patty Catron of Homer; uncles, Jared Porter of Homer, Erik Nelson of California, Chris Stanish of Anchorage, Robert (Stephanie) Webb of Anchorage, Jeremy (Meagen) Webb of Anchor Point; great-aunt, Corey Sheldon of Wasilla; great-uncles, Russ Harford of Anchor Point, Randy (Nina) Harford of Wasilla and Wayne Harford of Kodiak; cousins, Audrianna and Aurora of Homer, Damian Webb, Gracelynn Webb, Jaxon Webb, Axel Webb, Kayleigh Webb, Wyatt Webb, Angellynn Webb, Tristan McGee, Nicolas McGee, Haylee McGee, Aiden Fielding, Laila Stanish, Trevor Kinsel, Miriah Gassler, Trevor Koen, David Koen and Rachel Koen; and numerous other relatives.
