Longtime Alaskan and Anchor Point resident, Larry Ray Trefren, 79, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at his home.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10221, 72551 Milo Fritz Ave. in Anchor Point. His cremated remains will be laid to rest at the Anchor Point Cemetery.

Larry was born June 17, 1938 in Los Angeles, California at the Hawthorn Hospital. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in Grants Pass, Oregon on May 31, 1956. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1960. He moved to Alaska in 1979 and lived in Wrangell and then Anchorage before moving to Anchor Point. He was self-employed and owned L&S Engine and Gear Repair from 2005-2017.

Larry was a member of the V.F.W. and the NRA. He enjoyed traveling, playing the guitar and spoke Thai.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Linda Trefren of Hood River, Orgon.; sisters, Kathy Kane of Martinez, California and Susan Brostoski of Portland, Oregon; and a brother, Allen Trefren of Victorville, California.

The family prefers memorial donations rather than flowers be sent to V.F.W. Post #10221, 72551 Milo Fritz Ave., Anchor Point, AK 99556.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
