Longtime Homer resident Mrs. Jodi Lynn Riley, 59, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, overlooking Kachemak Bay in Homer with her family by her side.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Jodi was born Sept. 7, 1955, in Goldendale, Wash. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, Wash.
She moved to Alaska in 1982 with a six-year stay in Hawaii and a five-year stay in California, then back to Homer in 2007.
Chlorus Vaughn Pointer, also known as Von Pointer, 79, died on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, in Anchorage. A celebration of life service was at 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 14, 2015, at Homer United Methodist Church, 770 East End Road,.
Von was born in Omaha, Neb., on Oct. 11, 1935, to Chlorus Laverne and Florence Lichti Pointer. He was raised on the family farms in both Nebraska and Arkansas. Von was known as Sonny or Skeeter in those places. Von came to Alaska for a visit in 1954 and never returned to the farm in Arkansas.
Leonard Billotte, 88, of Homer died from liver cancer on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at South Peninsula Hospital.
Leonard was born to Russell and Ruth (Hurley) Billotte on Thursday, Nov. 15, 1926, in Clearfield, Pa.

Annie loved spending time with her grandkids, going to bingo with family and friends, sewing parkas and crafts, and truly enjoyed to see a smile on the faces of those she loved.

Longtime Kasilof resident, Mr. Howard “Bud” Michael Byington, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Heritage Place in Soldotna.
A celebration of his life was held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at the VFW in Soldotna on Birch Street. A reception and potluck followed the service. An additional celebration of his life will be July 4, 2015, at the Byington Homestead in Kasilof.
Frank M. Wise, 84, died Jan. 10, 2015. A celebration of life was held Jan. 17, 2015, at Glacierview Baptist Church, with burial at Hickerson Memorial Cemetery on Diamond Ridge Road.
Frank was born August 1930, in Seminole, Okla., to Rufus Earl and Alice Jackman Wise. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janelle Collins, and brothers Bobby Dale Wise, Ray Nolan Wise, Donald Wise, Harold Wise and Leo Wise.
Dana Ray Bachiochi, 64, of Happy Valley died on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, in his home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church (just north of the fairgrounds on Sterling Highway), with Father Bob officiating.
Dana was born Monday, Oct. 16, 1950, to Raphael (Ray) and Marilyn (Caywood) Bachiochi in Stafford Springs, Conn., where he graduated, taught and eventually retired from teaching.
“Papaw” Frank Wise, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. “Our beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather and friend went home to be with his Lord,” his family said. “‘Welcome home, thou good and faithful servant,’ Jesus said.”
Clyde Duren Jr., 92, of Homer died Jan. 7, 2015, from heart failure at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage. A service is at 2 p.m. Jan. 16, 2015, at Kehl’s Chapel, 11621 Old Seward Highway, in Anchorage. A reception will be held at the chapel following the services and his ashes will be scattered in Kachemak Bay at a later date. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the services.

Her last wish fulfilled, Betty Jean Irving, 93, died peacefully in the comfort of her own home in Anchorage on Dec. 22, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at University Baptist Church in Anchorage. A potluck will follow.
Patricia Ann Lavelle Lawlor, 86, died Dec. 21, 2014, in Anchorage. A celebration of life mass is planned for July.
Mary Margaret Bush, 46, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014.
A native of Ohio, Mary recently returned to Ormond Beach from Homer, where she had lived for the past 12 years. Mary had a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida and was a Certified Nursing Assistant. She took great joy in caring for her patients.
Kayla Rodasti, 29, died Nov. 25, 2014. “She left this world for the next one,” her family said. A celebration of her life is at noon Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the Peanut Farm in Anchorage. Another celebration of life was held on Dec. 2, 2014, in Homer. Her family said they were touched and humbled by the outpouring of love and affection that night. They were shown things about her through others that they never before saw.

Born in Detroit, Mich., Steve learned his skills as a finish carpenter from his father, Steve Faller Sr., an immigrant from Austria.
Shortly after returning from service with the U.S. Army in Germany, Steve met and married the love of his life, Geri.
