Ignorance highlighted
Whew! One hardly knows how to get one's mind around Sen. Patty Murry's magnificent ignorance of things such as history, theology, or the American people as revealed in her recent comments to Washington schoolchildren.

Of course, it would not be seemly for Patty to mention that Muslim fundamentalist leaders have a recent history of human brutality on a proportional scale so huge that it dwarfs in intensity the bloodbaths visited on the Soviet people by Stalin's Cheka. It is no problem for most folks to declaim loyalty at the point of a knife or gun and/or under the threat of having their women and children raped and slaughtered.

Hitler built roads, schools and orphanages. He used the orphanages to house the many Nazi babies born to S.S. fathers of mothers provided by the state. He used the schools to twist the minds of a generation. And he used the roads to drive that generation and it's equipment into a total war of conquest. Everyone was sooo grateful.

The schools Sen. Murry praises are merely factories for replicating a form of Muslim fundamentalism that distorts whatever is good in the Koran and emphasizes that which is bad. Hatred is an addicting drug when fed incessantly to the young.

Then, as to the fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan, the senator forgets that they won the war with considerable help from the U.S. Remember their "thank you" note? We received it a year and a quarter ago. It was spectacular.

I guess the senator from Washington would have us beat our swords into plowshares and give them to the people who hate us. After all, if we hunt down organized Muslim killers and render unto them swift justice and retribution before they can render more terror unto us, the effect could be tragic. They might hate us. Goodness!

The truth is that Sen. Murry presents just another example of today's American liberal thinking. They would rather feel good than be confused with facts and realities (think of the Great Society). In their view, seen often in the media nowadays, it is the hated that are guilty not the haters.

What did we do to make these people hate us so? How can we make them not harbor such hatred? Bribe them to love us, perhaps? She ignores the fact that jealously, covetousness and hatred are very often unilateral emotions engendered in no way by a deed of the feeling's object.

But then, by their lights, anyone who hates America can't be all bad. American liberal culture is derivative of Marxism/Leninism. They see rich people as naturally evil and rich countries as seething cauldrons of evildoers. It is easy for them to dismiss the millions of Americans who, in our free society, pulled themselves from poverty to riches by dent of hard work, enthusiasm and determination. They simply dismiss them by saying, as did Congressman Gephardt, "They are the fortunate winners of life's lottery."

I can tell you that, if a successful life is a lucky lottery win, then I know a hell of a lot of people who worked most of their waking hours for most of their lives to purchase the ticket. But then I digress.

Patty and her ilk just want everyone to love us. If we love them first, that's all it takes (plus a few billion dollars here or there). I often think of the beautifully constructed -- but silly -- phrase "... Give peace a chance." Silly he says? Yes and I can prove it to any true believer who will give me a little time.

What I would do is dress them up as upper middle class Americans, put a Give Peace a Chance sign around their neck and deposit them from a chauffeured limo on a street corner in one of our more dangerous neighborhoods. Lets do it in the cool of the evening shall we? How about 10 p.m. on a summer's night? When we pick them up the next morning, I'll bet they'll have some colorful new views about giving peace a chance -- that is if they are still able to communicate with us at all.

Pity Sen. Murry. She embarrasses herself and those she represents.
