Yep, sports fans, the Pigskin Picker is retiring for the rest of the year, ready to sit and enjoy the playoffs without the enormous pressure of picking games.
First off, I'd like to thank all of you who sent in your picks. It wouldn't have been nearly as fun doing this if I wasn't beating people at my own game. Ha, ha, ha.
With a nine and seven week 17 record, the Picker went out with a fizzle, though.
Who could have guessed the Steelers backups would be good enough to whup the hottest team in the AFC, the Bills, in a game that meant everything for Buffalo and nothing for Pittsburgh?
Well, one guy did, Nathan Meuler from Marvin, S.D. He picked that game and 11 others right to finish the regular season with a 12-4 week 17.
Congratulations, Nathan.
Too bad I'm all out of freebies this week, but good luck next year.
For the rest of you out there in Pickerland, thanks again for your time and picks. Next season I plan on getting some actual prizes for this column, so keep up the scouting work in the off-season.
