Alaska State Troopers impounded a red Dodge van from Mile 134 Sterling Highway near Ninilchik. The van had been abandoned since the fall of 2011. Troopers will send a summons to an 18-year-old Kenai and Washington state man for unlawful vehicle abandonment.

Jan. 12

Bureau of Highway Patrol Troopers at 2:23 a.m. made a traffic stop on the Alyeska Highway in Girdwood on a 1994 Chevrolet Trail Blazer driven by a 34-year-old Homer woman. Troopers allege the woman drove drunk and arrested her for driving under the influence.
