So my New Year’s wish for all is that you have better luck with your resolutions than I have. May you have a joyous and prosperous new year. May you tell your friends and family how important they are to you.
Tsunami warnings made for an interesting start to the weekend last week. This was a first for my family. We got telephone calls telling us we had 45 minutes to get to the North Fork.
Then, watching the weatherman on TV, it seemed to be a slight joke when he was explaining that Japan had only gotten a 4-inch tsunami. With his chuckle and grin he tells us that the chances were very slim that we would get a large wave but to still keep an open eye out. Our concern went out the door, but one must never take chances. It is good to make sure your entire family is aware of what needs to be done in these types of situations.
Have a great weekend.
Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce
Speakers for the noon luncheon on Wednesday at the Anchor River Inn will be Scott Brennan, chief operating officer of the Renewable Resources Coalition, Anchorage, and Brian Kraft with Trout Unlimited who are opposed to the development of Pebble Mine. On Feb. 21, the guest speaker will be someone from Northern Dynasty which is trying to develop the mine. These both should be very informative luncheons and are open to the public.

Now it’s time to turn over a new leaf, a chance to start over. My New Year’s resolution is like the movie “Groundhog Dog.” I am going to start that diet and lose 20 pounds this year. Huh. It just keeps repeating over and over.
