The Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center offers Alaska artists two opportunities to display and sell work. From June 15 to Aug. 15 daily at the Art Potpourri, artists, authors and craftspeople can display work in the museum atrium.
During the three-day Thanksgiving Crafts Weekend Nov. 23-25 40 artisans have a chance to display and sell work in the atrium. To apply, submit a prospectus to the museum.
A prospectus form for the Art Potpourri is available Jan. 15 at www.anchoragemuseum.org; the deadline is April 4.
A prospectus for the Crafts Weekend is available online on Feb. 15; apply by May 3.

Homer artists honored at museum
Three Homer artists have had works included in exhibits at or purchased by the Anchorage Museum. “Earth, Fire and Fibre XXVI,” a juried craft exhibition on view Jan. 14-March 4, includes “Hanging by a Thread,” salmon vertebrae jewelry by Rika Mouw, which won an honorable mention. “Alaska Positive,” a juried photography exhibition on view Jan. 7-Feb. 4, includes work by Aleda Yourdon. Yourdon received one of two awards of recognition. Clay artist Maygen Jannetta had work purchased by the museum under a Rasmuson Foundation grant to buy contemporary Alaska art.
‘Inspirational Insect’ talk held
Stream ecologist Sue Mauger holds a workshop, “Inspirational Insects,” at 6 p.m. Jan. 24 at Cook InletKeeper. Mauger’s talk is part of a series of lectures to inspire artists to create works for the Beauty and the Bug exhibit, opening April 3 at the Pratt Museum. Visual artists and writers are invited to submit one piece for the exhibit; the entry deadline is March 20. Call Ryjil Christianson at 235-8635.
