Asa Shafer was born Jan. 17, 2009, at South Peninsula Hospital to Cap and Jeanette Shafer of Anchor Point. He weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces. His grandparents are Clif and Cherly Shafer of Anchor Point and Connie and Edward Kretschumer of Wellington, Nev. His uncle and aunt are Cam and Brok Shafer and his cousins are Tison and Brooke Shafer, all of Anchor Point.
