Nomination period open for seats on HEA board

Homer Electric Association is accepting nominations from members interested in running for a seat on the cooperative's nine-member board of directors. On this year's ballot will be:

• District 1 (Kenai-Nikiski-parts of Soldotna) seat held by Alan Bute of Kenai;

• District 2 (Soldotna-Sterling-Kasilof area) seat held by Ed Oberts of Soldotna;

• District 3 (Ninilchik-Homer-Seldovia area) seat held by Jim Levine of Homer.

Directors are elected by district, with members voting only for the director in their respective district.

Members interested in being on the ballot must fill out a candidacy packet that requires the candidate to gather at least 15 signatures from current HEA members living in the district where the candidate resides. Packets are available at HEA offices in Kenai and Homer and on-line at www.homerelectric.com. The deadline to submit a packet is 5 p.m. March 2.

Ballots will be mailed to HEA members March 30, with results announced at the May 3 annual meeting at Homer High School.
