Jody Yakanak, 27, of Kodiak, her 6-year-old son and Rocky Moore, 39, of Homer were injured in the accident and taken to South Peninsula Hospital. According to an Alaska State Trooper report, Moore was driving east in a Ford Ranger pickup at about 3:15 p.m. when he crossed the center line and struck Yakanak, driving a Jeep Cherokee.
Both vehicles were totaled. Tools, junk and beer bottles were strewn from the open pickup bed of the Ford Ranger.
Troopers allege Moore drove with a revoked license from a previous charge of driving under the influence. He also had an outstanding $750 warrant for a probation violation. Troopers are forwarding charges of DUI and two counts of third-degree assault to the Kenai district attorney's office for review.
