It decided Monday that HHA should be permitted to sell the naming rights of the sheet of ice, hockey rink or other parts of the building the penalty booth or scoreboard but not the building itself, unless approved by council.
"They didn't have anyone specific in mind, but they did think there were corporate sponsors out there that would be interested," he said. "The more money you can line up either from donors or from civic sponsors the better."
In a recent meeting the project review committee discussed selling the rights for $50,000 per year for 10 years. The revenue for the first three years would go to capital costs, then it would be used for maintenance and operation of the facility.
