Nine short films on ocean adventure, coastal cultures and marine science from Alaska and around the world show Thursday for the annual Alaska Ocean Film Festival. Films start at 6 p.m. at the Homer Theatre. The short documentaries explore adventures like "Team Clark Goes Canoeing," about a family's six-week journey from Valdez to Whittier, as well as environmental issues, such as "The Majestic Plastic Bag," a "mockumentary" about the amazing journey of a plastic bag around the ocean. In partnership with the Alaska Center for the Environment, the festival also includes light humor, like the Dutch film "Monsterboards," about small-waving surfing in Holland. Other films are "Eating the Ocean," "Into the Deep with Elephant Seals," "Capture: A Waves Documentary," "The Coral Gardener," "Landscapes at the World's Ends," "Eating the Ocean" and "Birdathlon." Admission is $10.
