In honor and remembrance of Alaska’s veterans, more than $11,000 has been awarded to enhance three veteran memorials across the state. The Veterans’ Memorial Endowment Fund granted $5,093 to American Legion Post 10 for the new Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bethel. The Interior Veterans Coalition was awarded $4,342 for the enhancement of the Interior Alaska Veterans Memorial in Fairbanks. And the Air Force Association is spending $2,195 for improvements to the Eleventh Air Force/American Homer from Siberia Memorial at Merrill Field in Anchorage. Additional donations can be sent to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, P.O. Box 5800 Camp Denali, Fort Richardson, AK 99505. Applications for Veterans’ Memorial Endowment Grants for 2007 must be received by Dec. 1, 2006.
