Foster Shannon (55) takes it to the hoop for two points off the breakaway against Wasilla on Saturday.

The Mariners boys basketball team will work on its endurance against Grace Christian on Feb. 5, after the Feb. 2 game against Kenai that came right down to the wire in overtime and two tight games against Soldotna and Wasilla that ended in disappointing fourth quarters and two losses on Jan. 29 and 30.

Against Soldotna the score was within three at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Stars managed to sink 14 against the Ms' two.

The story was more or less the same against the Wasilla on Saturday, with the Ms closing the gap late in the third quarter to a seven point spread before heading into the fourth quarter with Wasilla scoring 16 to the Ms' two.

Against Kenai, the Ms battled back and forth with the Kards up until the final seconds of the fourth quarter when a lay up from Luke Garvey tied the score and put four overtime minutes up on the clock.

The Kards soon pulled ahead but despite a buzzer three-pointer from Dyllan Day, who owned the three-point line with five just that game, The Ms couldn't make up the difference and lost by a final score of 63-61

The boys will take on Grace Christian tonight at 7:45 p.m.
