"(Moore) was traveling up the driveway at approximately 50 miles per hour according to a witness," said David Sherbahn with the Alaska State Troopers Detachment E in Anchor Point.

The driveway, which is on private property, is approximately one mile long.

Moore was riding his 99 Skidoo 700 snowmachine when he impacted the rear of an unoccupied vehicle parked in the driveway.

"There is a bump in the driveway. He came off that bump and got airborne, came down, landed the snowmachine and slammed on the brakes," Sherbahn said.

"The snowmachine went sideways, threw him off and into the back of the stationary car."

The snowmachine followed Moore and struck him.

Medics from Ninilchik were the first on the scene. According to witnesses, Moore was having difficulty breathing and was in and out of consciousness, AST reported. Moore was transported to South Peninsula Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Blizzard conditions covered much of the Kenai Peninsula Friday; however Sherbahn said weather is not believed to be a factor.

"He did have a helmet and goggles on. Sometimes they get fogged up in really cold weather, but there's no way of knowing by the time we got there," Sherbahn said.

Moore was a 2003 graduate of Ninilchik High School.
