The planning kit will highlight different types of systems, such as the New York City EMS system.
"They were looking for a rural site to compare with a larger city site," said Hecks.
Seldovia's information will be presented in a packet mailed out to EMS departments nationwide.
This month is also the 25th anniversary of the Seldovia EMS department, according to Hecks. A banquet will be held on Feb. 27 to celebrate the anniversary and honor volunteers.
The department has more than 20 volunteers and averages more than 21,000 volunteer hours annually.
Hecks, who was a volunteer since the department's beginnings in 1979, said the department struggles with the usual challenges in small, rural communities where sustaining a volunteer base is difficult, but said Seldovia works hard to keep up with new training requirements and owns state-of-the-art equipment.
"We have a dedicated group of volunteers," she said. "We have huge support from the community base as well.
"It's pretty phenomenal."
