Clayton E. Richardson
Clayton Earl Richardson, 54, died Jan. 28, 2004, at his Anchor Point home with his family by his side singing "Amazing Grace." He died from mesothelioma, a rare cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Memorial services were held Jan. 31, 2004, at Homer United Methodist Church. He was buried Jan. 30, 2004, at Hickerson Memorial Cemetery on Diamond Ridge.

Clayton was a mechanic most of his life and had a lot of exposure from working on brakes, clutches and transmissions which all have asbestos in them, his family said.

Clayton was born Jan. 3, 1960, in Homer. An Aleut, his family were some of the original homesteaders, and he is related to the Deitz and Cooper families.

His family said, "Clayton was a very giving person who would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He helped many people in their time of need. His greatest passions were his family, church and his parrot Kato. Most people know that Clayton and Kato were inseparable and went everywhere together. Other hobbies of his were dirt bike and race car driving, fishing, hunting, singing in the church choir. As a child he was a drummer in a marching band. He was also a prankster, trying out new ways to mess with his kids.

"While in his shop he built lots of vehicles, including his famous red tow truck, and the red Malibu that he and his sons Rocky and Daren built from the ground up. Not only did he build them, he fixed them in his business KX3 Auto, named after 'KX3,' the cattle brand used by his family. He will be truly and greatly missed."

Clayton is survived by his loving wife Cheryl; sister and brother-in-law Autumn and Adrian Doxsee, sister Yulanda Johansen, sister and brother-in-law Scharlott and Mark Thomas and sister Corey; brothers-in-law Wayne, Russ and Randy Harford; son Daren and daughter-in-law Chuck, son and daughter-in-law Rocky and Christie, daughter and son-in-law Rachel and Danny Stanish, and children Sam, Tonya Jeremy, Robert and Mary; grandchildren Jonathan, McKenzie, Blake, Tristan and Nicholas; nieces and nephews Miles Richardson (who carries on the family name), Tanner, Ryder, Shawn, Jason, Amber, Jolene, Rubeun, Trudy, Joshua, Mariah, Angelena, Gloriella, Atrayu, Isreal, Deaynna, Shauna, Crystal, John, Billie Joe, Rodney, Alexis and many great nieces and nephews; and mother- and father-in-law Gloria and Robert Harford.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Delcie May and George Earl Richardson; nephew Shawn, and niece Trudy.
