The Christian Fine Arts Society is sponsoring a special religious poetry contest. Entry is free. There are 50 prizes in all, totaling more than $4,000 and including a $1,000 grand prize. Clave, a local nonprofit, is seeking musical acts to take part in a spring concert series. Weekly concerts will take place at Amped Cafe on Saturdays, beginning in April. The purpose of the concerts is to provide musicians an opportunity to perform in a smoke-free, casual and intimate environment. All ages of musicians and genres of music are welcome to apply. The Alaska State Council on the Arts' Artists in Schools program has announced a decrease in matching grant funds paid by schools throughout Alaska for the upcoming school year, 2005-2006. At the same time, the program has increased the amount paid to individual artists. Funding is made possible through the Rasmuson Foundation's new Arts Education Initiative.
