If you'd like to adopt a pet, call or stop by the Animal Shelter across from Public Works off the Sterling Highway. The shelter is open seven days a week, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Call 235-3141, e-mail pow@homeranimalshelter.com or visit the shelter's Web site at www.homeranimals. com.
Every 6.5 seconds in this country a shelter animal is euthanized. Killed. Catia is in line to be one of those statistics. What did she do to deserve this? Is she mean? Is she nasty? Is she ugly or ill or diseased? None of the above. She is a sweet, beautiful, orange-and-black calico with a white ruff who was found as a stray. So who's to blame? Every person who lets their cats outside without having them fixed is to blame. We may not be able to save Catia, but we can save others by making sure our cats and all our friends' and neighbors' cats have been spayed or neutered.
