Did you know that anyone with a need can call 235-1968 and we will pack a box of food, or they can come in on Monday from 1-3 p.m. to the Homer United Methodist Church, 770 East End Road? The person who broke the church window and kicked in the Food Pantry door must not have known that.
We want to thank all of you private food donors that have so graciously brought us food this month. We appreciate the monthly financial donation that the Catholic Women's Guild so generously gives to those in need. Thanks also go to John McFarland, who graciously shared a quarter of his winnings from the Homer News football contest.
Put May 3 on your calendar for our May Early Bird Rummage Sale. If you plan to do some spring cleaning, remember us. We can take items on Mondays from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church.
We always need canned and dry goods (i.e., canned tomatoes, egg noodles, Ramen, fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly and juice). We also need pint-size containers, egg cartons, sealable plastic bags (sandwich size and quart size) and 16-ounce bottles.
Thanks for all your help, Homer. As Bertha von Suttner said, "After the verb 'to love,' 'to help' is the most beautiful verb in the world."
Diana Jeska, Homer Food Pantry
