Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Herman's Orthodox Church in Port Graham. Father Sergie Active officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Norman, Randy Norman, Storman Norman, Gordon Norman, Martin Norman and Greg McMullen.
Mrs. Norman was born Dec. 16, 1958, in Sheldon, Wash. She graduated from high school and had also taken courses from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
She moved to Alaska in 1975, residing in Port Graham. She had worked as a postmistress, JOM preschool teacher, Headstart teacher, Readstart coordinator, teacher's aide, fisherwoman and carpenter.
Mrs. Norman had attended services at the Church of the First Born in Port Graham. She was also an ETT Technician, volunteer firefighter, on the local site base governance committee and volunteered her time for any events that involved her family and children. She also enjoyed traditional Aleut basket-weaving, beading, creating earrings, volleyball and visiting.
"Linda was a very loving woman, friend, wife and mother. Her faith was very strong, and she also put her heart in everything." her family said.
Mrs. Norman is survived by her husband, Wayne Norman; daughters, Alta and Alicia Malchoff; sons, Marvin, Reuben and Kristen Norman; brother, David Swenson; sisters, Jody Diaz, Carol Swenson Jackson, Joanne Worthington, Alta Thompson and Darlene Hill; her stepmom, Joyce Trewen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Homer Funeral Home and Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
