Students' skills earn school 'Most Employable' award

The Homer chapter of Skills USA cleaned up at the Career and Technical Student Organization Conference at Kenai Central High School Feb. 18. Forty Homer students competed, earning Homer High School the "Most Employable School Award," according to Camron Wyatt, one of four adults traveling with the students. Individual awards went to the following HHS participants:

Jenna Mahoney, culinary arts, first place;

Rose Bellamy, culinary arts, second place;

Neil Richardson, construction, first place;

Brandon Radke, welding, first place;

Eileen Takak, keyboarding, first place with 68 words per minute;

Lindsey Seneff, design-make-sell, first place;

Diane Frank, floriculture, second place;

Neil Richardson, skid-steer, second place;

Austin Brown, fork lift, third place;

Sienna Rucker, excavator, first place;

D. J. Marsengill, excavator, second place;

Mack Wood, excavator, third place;

Monica Davis, best culinary arts – chili, second place;

Jenna Mahoney, best culinary arts – chili, third place;

Diane Frank, best culinary arts – corn bread, third place;

Rose Bellamy, best culinary arts – salad, first place;

Katie McNary, best culinary arts – salad, third place;

Alicia Isenhour, best culinary arts – cookies, second place;

Valeria Mastolier, best culinary arts – cookies, tied for third place.
