Everyone can be part of solution

Global warming is an issue that is currently the worst at hand. Living in Homer, it feels that we are some of the most affected, with the glaciers melting, and our winters being oddly varied. Most of the causes of global warming are well known to everybody, however, the solutions are not so well observed. A few things that anybody could do to help the environment are these: 1. Replace incandescent light bulbs with florescent ones. 2. Install a programmable thermostat; doing this lowers your energy consumption a considerable amount over the span of a year. 3. Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases. 4. Don't leave appliances on standby, such as your TV or radio. 5. Clean and replace filters on your heaters.

These are only a few things out of many that you can do to significantly help out the environment. Studies show that places such as New Orleans, the Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon Rain Forest and the alpine glaciers are places that will be the most affected, due to raising water temperatures and levels, and snow and ice melts, if global warming is not stopped as soon as possible.
