Grover F. Huffnagle

Mr. Huffnagle was born Dec. 28, 1930, to Grover C. and Mary Gene (Cooper) Huffnagle in Ridgway, Colo. He was raised there and graduated from Ridgway High School. Mr. Huffnagle entered into the U.S. Army in 1949, and served in the Korean Conflict as a medic until he was honorably discharged in 1952. While in the military he was awarded a medical badge, Army of Occupation Medal and the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars. He worked for the Colorado Ute Power Company in Nucla, Colo. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Colorado. Mr. Huffnagle moved to Homer, Alaska, in 1979, where he worked for Icicle Seafoods until retiring in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

"Grover's joy was his boat and taking his family halibut fishing out on the bay. In Colorado, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He taught his children all those things at an early age. He was a hard worker all his life and was proud to have served his country. He loved to tease family and friends alike and had a great sense of humor. We will miss him greatly," wrote the family.

Mr. Huffnagle was preceded in death by his parents, Grover C. and Mary Gene Huffnagle. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Jeanette M. Huffnagle of Homer; sons, Ron and Don Huffnagle both of Homer; daughters, Annette Huffnagle of Homer, Inette Huffnagle-Carey of Grand Junction, Colo., and Cathy Myers and her husband, Art, of Vassar, Mich.; brother and sister in-law, Sydney and Devon Huffnagle of Homer; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew.

Arrangements were by the Homer Funeral Home.
