The Homer Lady Mariners' basketball team dropped two on the road against Palmer, 46-27, on Feb. 19, and Colony, 55-15, on Feb. 20, but looks to pick up some slack at home against Kodiak this weekend. On both nights the Lady Ms saw the game go quickly downhill, outscored in the first quarter by both teams some 32-7. However, despite the deficit, both against Palmer and against Colony, the Lady Ms really came into their own late in the game. Leading the way for the Ms against Palmer was Haley Oliver, who managed to knock in six off three two pointers. Against Colony, the Lady Ms' top scorer Liz Needham punched in three two pointers and went one for four from the free throw line, bringing in seven altogether and nearly half of the Ms' total scoring on the night. The Lady Ms will have one last shot at regular season victory on Friday and Saturday when they hold their last home game of the season against Kodiak. Kodiak is currently third in the Northern Lights Conference with a season record of 8-12. The Lady Ms are currently in eighth place in the conference standings with a conference record of 0-8 and an overall season record of 1-19.
