Troopers at 12:32 p.m. went to a car accident near Mile 79.5 Seward Highway near Girdwood. Troopers allege a 33-year-old Homer man driving north in a 1989 Ford van slid across the oncoming lane and hit a guard rail. The man wore his seat belt and was not injured. Damage to the van was about $5,000 and to the guardrail also about $5,000. Troopers cited the man for speeding and not having proof of insurance.

Troopers at 5:13 p.m. stopped a 28-year-old Soldotna man for a traffic violation in Ninilchik. Troopers arrested the man for driving under the influence, marijuana, and sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. The man also was cited for failure to yield when passing, having tinted windows and failure to carry insurance. He was taken to the Homer Jail.
